Name: Fensake Kakuheki
Nickname: Blood Winged Phoenix
Age: 456
Gender: Male
Weapon(s): Hands, Fist, Head, Spirit
Personality: Fensake, a name that once spoke of a dutiful and loyal member of the Gotei thirteen. He was always composed and strong-minded about the issue's at hand and lead with a firm grasp of the situation or did not lead at all. He forged himself into the epitome of what a shinigami should be and nothing else but that remained in the end. Not until the change, the event that would alter him from the false man he had become and allow the true form of Fensake to come out into the open. He will always be headstrong, and open-minded of the way the world works around him but the oddly servile way he operated, the composed outward demeanor all would be washed away when he was forced to confront the hollow within, to confront his deepest instincts.
He was a true lover of battle even in his old days but he always had to refrain, to hold back so his men would be safe. No such constraint bogs him down anymore and he is able to unleash his full enjoyment of battle with an opponent with strong seemingly careless attacks and wide-open stances. In another time he could have been a Kenpachi if he had embraced himself from the get go. Yet he will always be a brooding sort as he looks at the philosophy of battle with hollows at the sacrifice of shinigami lives in the ten's if not hundreds most times.
The Lieutenants and captains sitting high and mighty while sending others to die instead though is another factor in his philosophy that can never truly change. Both sides have a purpose to the balance of souls but both sides are constantly at odds to eradicate the other. Doing so tips the balance and the realms will all perish. He does remain the fiercest supporter of a shinigami run human realm, without a shinigami in every district the world falls to the hollow and balance will tip to the brink of destruction. But at the same time he understands a hollow must feed, and in those cases will only truly interfere when a child or still living soul is it's victim. Those that become too greedy will be slain, those that only survive will flourish.
He has an odd obsession with logic and special puzzles such as two nails molded together or rubix cube type toys and is typically able to be found playing with one off set of his childrens show, The Spirit Ninja Hour.
Physical Appearance:Fensake is a tall individual for japanese standards at the time of his birth and tops out at 6'2". He has a fairly muscular frame built around a not-lanky but not stocky frame and carries himself in a carefree relaxed motion through a lot of his time amongst others. His fiery orange eyes, a birth defect, are flecked with brighter golden patches that give his gaze an intensity it was never really meant to have and that clashes with his lazy visage of an almost euphoric outlook on the world. A stubbly beard seeks to accent his lazy-by-nature mentality but those who look closer will notice the neatly trimmed edges and length, the perfectly cleaned teeth and manicured nails and hair on his head, most seemingly loosely tousled into shape has not a single hair out of place.
A perfectionism of laziness to a T, even his clothing is perfectly maintained despite it's laid-back appearances. He wears an old emerald green track suit, black and white sneakers, and a collectible logpose one piece watch on his right hand. At this time of year he also wears a comically over-stuffed bubble coat and ski goggles with a super fluffy eskimo hood on it as he detests the cold.
Bio: Born into the era of fuedal Japan, Fensake's attitude towards the world around him was molded more or less to fit it, and yet not fit it. for no matter who, he could never stand by and watch anyone suffer. His family had all died when he was young, during attacks by bandits, he had been spared only because their bodies fell atop him as they were slain. Only ten he began to work as his father had in the rice paddies, and the fields, assisting his village in it's recovery and rebuilding. Many villagers would think him brave, but truly he was more ghost for the next 5 years then he ever was as a plus soul. By the time he reached adult-hood of the modern era he had grown very strong and admired among the villagers, while no god to them, he was one who would never not stop to assist, would tend to those who needed wounds salved, and was never averse to lifting grain rolls from the backs of the weary and up onto his strong shoulders.
Born to a life of toil, he had found his place, found his solace in the loss of his family, and found his family had only been made smaller, and that those that remained cared for him as any other could. A man of courage, of valor, and sadly, of fool hardy bravery. He had left the town for some time, along with many other men of his own age, to go and fight for another Lords senseless wars and likely to die, and yet he did not, coming from the war nearly unscathed but for the memories of those he had lost. He had met along his path, just outside his own village, a set of bandits, kicking strongly into a lump upon the ground. Fensake had been mere moments from ignoring it until he heard the whimper from the lump as it noticed his approach. A man, under assault, Fensake armed with the blade gifted him by his survival of the bloody wars. Little could he have known he had not been so grand a swordsmen, as he had been a lucky one. He unsheathed the blade and would strike down one, then two, and then three bandits before the remaining party would gift him the eternal black sleep of death.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He had awoken, from what he could tell after several hours, to see a steady orange glow. Dazed from what he had though his death he dashed off, not ever realizing he left his body behind bleeding across the dirt path. He stormed into his village to find it just now beginning to smolder into ashes and charcoal, and to see a Man in heavy black robes surveying the scene as a small black winged butterfly fluttered off. Fensake roared at the man in his rage, diving forward to slash with a sword he had not realized he no longer wielded, and was smashed to the dirt and ashen street by the pommel of this black robed figures blade. A blade he would remember, for it's small size, it's strangely blunt tip, and it's reversed edge.
He awoke again, this time feeling as if he had been something small, something insignificantly weak, and yet elegant. the sign to his right, more a slash of paint across one tattered wall, the numbers 78. A small splash of faded and weather worn blood underneath them. He picked himself up, rubbing away the dirt and dust and glancing around him to survey his new surroundings. It seemed safe enough, a mite bit sketchy but many kept to themselves and gave only shifty weary glances to those around them. He would blend in with the crowd easily as he tucked in, scooping a worn, and burn-edged blanket from a sleeping man, passed out in his own drunken stupor, and wrapping it about himself.
In that time he would wander through the districts, for a span of 17 years picking up the straggling children and other spirits, who he came to know as pluses, and together they moved through the Rukongai districts, relying on each other to make ends meat for the whole of them. Fensake also came to know of the shinigami, and of the art of the soul burial as each spirit called it when they were sent here. His previous animosity when he had first tried to rip apart one of the black clothed figures on sight had been quickly stowed away to feel personal shame about after he had been so easily subdued by the Shinigami. for now he could respect them well enough. After all, without them he would never have come to this new realm, and perhaps he would have become something dark and terrible rather then whatever level of pure being he was at the moment.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
However, these years of content following could not forever last. As time went by many of his people began to find place among the vast districts to settle down. Taking groups of children along with them to keep them safe and give them a true home to flourish in, and so one day Fensake finally found himself alone, and again he came across a shinigami. He stood tall, yet not as well-built as Fensake. He would have passed off the initial feeling of familiarity if he had not noted in time the small blade tucked neatly into the front robes. Of the odd handle, so familiar as it had stamped him on the forehead and knocked him to the ground.
Fensake alone had not bothered to track the districts through which he traveled, he was well-armed with his small tanto, at least well enough at wielding it after 17 years of defending his followers to fend of the typical thugs, and thus hadn't been able to realize he had wandered into the 80th district of the Rukongai. So he approached with haste, to thank the shinigami for what he must have done for his villagers by sending them hear upon there deaths. He stopped abruptly as the man disappeared and the blade of cold steel pressed against his throat. Kubikiri tanto's, made to severe a dead enemies head a trophy, using a reversed edge on the curve. He began to raise his hands to show no harm meant, but stopped as the blade slightly cut into his throat and the man dropped to his knees in a fit of coughing.
Fensake turned and knelt, now seeing the dangers of the district around him as several men loomed from the shadows to come after this shinigami in his moment of weakness. Fensake assesed the situation, and patted the shinigami on the shoulder before sliding his hand around the dropped Kubikiri's hilt and unsheathing his own tanto blade. He would fight the three demons of Zaraki as they came at him and the wounded shinigami, who by now had begun to cough up blood as he collapsed, and leave all dead at his feet before re-sheathing his blade and picking the sheath from his shinigami's front and re-sheathing it as well.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
By now the shinigami had lapsed into unconsciousness so Fensake simply hefted him over both his shoulders before making for the quickest exit from the Zaraki and into more peaceful Rukongai districts. Eventually he would find his way back, days later, and with the shinigami again back on his feet, walking among district one, and nearing the gate. For during his time with the shinigami, keeping him from hacking up a lung, and sharing small meals, he noticed the shinigami reducing the energy he coursed throughout himself to a minimum. It had intrigued the Shinigami that he could sense the reaitsu at all, but Fensake did not seem to find it all that terribly odd, so when asked to continue escorting him, he had happily obliged, glad to have a traveling companion again.
When they reached the gate it, unsurprisingly, snapped shut and the gaurdian looked down upon them for explanation of whya simple man of rukongai would have approached it with the shinigami. The shinigami spoke in hushed tones with the large guardian, but apparently convinced him to open the gate despite the Rukon mans presence. Fensake's presence. the shinigami turned to Fensake and held a hand out as he stood underneath the gateway. He offered him the chance to likewise bring souls to the Rukongai, and to help those lost in their paths to find their way. the Shinigami academy, one where anyone with spiritual prowess was sent.
Fensake was not sure if he truly qualified, but felt to not at least let those who admitted him reaitsu weak, be the ones to let this shinigami know he had been wrong, would be somewhat rude. Oh what little Fensake could truly have known of the path that awaited.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
While not found to be of grand power, for a beginner of course, his ability to sense the energy cocked enough Academy admittance workers eyes to allow him a chance at becoming a shinigami. He, while not excelling at first, performed more then adequately compared to others brought for the much more mainstream reason of energy bursts. In a work of book knowledge he did excel as he seemed to have an extreme thirst for understanding of things he previously had not. In the realms of combat, while very tentative with his initial strikes, as he grew more accustomed he began to show general, if not above average grasp of the concept of Zanjutsu and Hakuda. And though admitted under a time where he did not experience the periods of energy blasts as many did, or of hunger caused by appearance of Reaitsu in the individual. He did seem very well versed in the concept of kidou, though more so again towards those of a less violently deadly nature. His aim, practiced and truly was second-to-none, allowing his some what less developed abilities to give all there punch to the desired location. Never missing his mark was his strong suite.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So upon the day of his graduation, showing he was not a man to want to illfully destroy, not one to sit and analyze data, to stand and guard, To endlessly pour over data or even a man who simply loved destruction, he was placed where his skills and sense of justice proved most fitting. 5th, hunting down the criminals that would try and rob the Seireitei of it's knowledge, it's honor. He did not abide by, everyone is doing it come on, as an excuse to go against the rules and regs of the Office he and his fellow shinigami held.
His shikai was realized about half a century after his enrollment, now holding the 4th seat in his squad for his prowess and ability to make people feel fear and thus break under pressure. He had been speaking, or more so emoting with his blade for some time, but never had caught it's name in those emotions. He heard the voice now however, demanding his attention with full force of his own will.
Fensake had taken a moment to understand this and for that action his foe had found the time to pin him to a wall. For many a worthy task to complete, but Fensake's ideal point of combat was in close-range. His weapon whole-heartedly agreed with him as it erupted to new life in his hands.
"Engulf, Hell Furnace!" His right hand shot up and not only connected with the mans stomach but smashed it and his lower ribs inward before sending him rocketing back to smash half-dead into the building behind them. His teams mind were blown apart by the raw power the attack had held but only let it daunt them for a moment before moving in and detaining the would be traitor.
He served with distinction for decades to come, seeking advancement here, gaining a raise there for his efforts but eventually hit a ceiling of sorts in his ability to move up. He struggled to find a way to solve this dilemma but as it was his only options for further advancement was to change to a different squad. His duties could be performed from either position equally, so after careful deliberation he decided he would attempt to gain advancement into the sevenths squads currently vacant lieutenants position.
He became a wildly popular success as one of the divisions upp echelons of management through his compassion for his mens wants and needs while not forgetting to handle it firmly and calmly when he was forced to deny a more outlandish request by them. The division enjoyed prosperity from the Fensake they had come to know. His captain was fairly fond of his work ethic and supremely proud of the fact that he could rely on his lieutenant to perform tasks even the Captain was not able too.
In time the captain grew to know he would need to make way for Fensake as he began to overshadow his own abilities by quite the margin but even when confronted about the matter of succession and that Fensake would need to one day take over for him Fensake refused the offer and maintained that he was not fit to lead as a Captain yet. He still had much more development to endure. And much more to learn from his own.
His captain would bare with his protege's odd temperament towards ascending the ranks for many years of playful joking at meetings and gatherings while slowly piling more of his duties onto Fensake to force his hand. At last he relented, Fensake would take the appointment from his captain after a list of assignments he had been handed down was completed. Needless to say his captain had most of them accomplished within the next two days to Fensake's surprise and he was forced to go on the last one with his captain as a sort of Final Tour of Duty.
He along with his captain and several more of his seated officers were sent outwards into the outlying area's of the Rukongai. Apparently it had been hounding the population for some time and many were starting to go missing mysteriously without struggle in the night. Naturally Fensake himself was cautious of the event, far more so then needed due to the believed low level of this particular hollow. His captain and comrades made light conversation throughout the trek and well into the night while they setup camp in preparation to hunt it down tomorrow afternoon eventually getting Fensake to lighten his own mood.
They each celebrated in their own way the passing of the mantle from their captain to Fensake, his captain even going as far as to remove his robes for the evening to put himself down on the same political level as his men for his final night spent with them. Soon, full of drink and carb's the men fell asleep and even Fensake with all his caution failed to setup a watch. He would regret this grave error.
A scream rent the night and awoke Fensake with a start He literally exploded out of bed half naked, his tent's remains fluttering away with the massive release of spiritual pressure as he flashed amongst the remains of the seated officers he and his captain had brought with him. The hollow had obliterated them and even now was feeding on the skull of the final victim with a satisfying crunch of bone. It was, small and almost humanoid in form as it stalked through the remains for another morsel while Fensake looked on in abject horror.
His captains arrival behind him brought the moment of clarity he needed to instinctively attack, releasing his shikai and driving the blades straight home into the hollows back before he prepared to incinerate it from the inside. It reacted more quickly then could be anticipated and abnormally for a creature having just suffered such a grievous wound by twisting it's body and wrenching the knife through it's own flesh as it chomped down hard onto Fensake's arm even as it's own body exploded in a wash of fiery energy till it was nothing but ashes. The woods went silent but for the drip, drip, drip of blood from the still biting and now severed head of the dead foe.
For a moment the two survivors remained very quiet, waiting for anything else to jump out at them. Surely this could not have been the hollow they had been sent to eradicate. Of course it could be argued it had slain four seated officers but regardless of that the creature had done so in it's sleep and then died a moment later from Fensake's simple attack.
As the moments turned to minutes he and his captain finally began to relax and try and piece together the scene about them. The hollow had emerged from the woods very near them, further investigation would show thy had not only been less then a hundred yards from the beast but it had had enough time to drag off one of the officers before returning to finish the others and had not woken a single member of the party.
They waited near the remains, placing them with matched pieces as best they could for burial later as a second unit came out to close up the event and likely reprimand the pair for falling to such a weak hollow like this. Fensake had not yet stopped beating himself up over it and the trees had enough crimson on them by the time the second unit arrived to suggest a reason to the mass of bandages on Fensake's hands.
He reacted angrily when they approached him, already something out of the ordinary for him but when his captain attempted to get him to accept treatment he outright snapped and lashed out at him. The man flew bodily into a tree before collapsing to the ground and Fensake collapsed a moment later in some strange form of shock. The wound on his arm was starting to pulsate and his own face was beginning to drain of blood.
His captain and the unit rushed him back to the Seireitei for treatment of whatever strange affliction had him but he would not awaken for nearly 7 weeks from the coma he had fallen into. While trapped in his own mind untold images were brought before his mental eyes, the hollow slowly ripping the flesh off one of his men, the one dragged off, and his silent screams as he tried to call for help uselessly. He was hearing the mans finals thoughts, all of the final thoughts of every victim. Why have you failed us Fensake? Why didn't you save us?
He survived in mental torment...unending and vile.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When he finally came awake it was for only a few moments, a slightly cracked eyelid as he stared at a nurse changing the data on his charts, she squealed in surprise when he spoke to her before everything went black again. Before the insane laughter came back with the voices. Suddenly he was jolted awake. His surroundings, a fiery hellhole that he could somewhat recognize as the 4th divisions treatment facility, several nurses laying face down with bites and slashes take out of their throats, and his captain staring him down with full bloody murder in his eyes. Fensake was at a loss. What was going on? Where was he? Why was there nothing but wreckage everywhere? He tried to speak to his captain but found something covering his face. Slowly he reached up and felt the strange object clutched to his face. A bone white mask. A hollows mask. The world again went black.
He came too once again, his captain was before him still but they were at the Senkaimon gate now. Again the bodies of several others lay strewn about and he could sense other captains heading this way. His captain was bleeding, no not bleeding he was missing an arm. What had Fensake done. He reached out with a shaking hand amid the oddly silent moment towards his captain. "Go...Fensake go and never return...Your not to blame...I should have, I should have been stronger. Strong enough to protect you from whatever this hollow has done to you. Please go now, run and find yourself again before this thing takes you over entirely."
He took a step forward and his captain likewise reached out and grabbed his outstretched hand. For a moment he felt acceptance, for the countless crimes he still had no idea he had commited this night. He felt forgiveness, and he felt the weight of what his captain was about to do. He tried to scream out, to stop him from doing this even as other captains came into view but before he knew it he was flung into the Senkaimon gate.
He struggled to his feet from wounds he only now realized he'd been given, his last vision of his captain was his smile as he was impaled for standing between the others and his berserker Lieutenant. "Go...and be free..." The gate closed, and Fensake had only one real option left to him. Survive and fulfill the last request of the greatest man he would likely ever know.
He ran, and ran and kept running till he had no idea where on earth he was. Tired and exhausted he collapsed and once again the laughter came. Oh the foolishness, to assault a man who held himself in check in his moment of mental weakness. The Laughter would learn as Fensake spun up into a seated position and entered his inner world.
"COME OUT DEMON! WHATEVER YOU ARE!"
He bellowed. The spirit arose and they would confront one another in time. For now Fensake just wanted to break every last bit of it into atomic particles and then burn those away for good.
(okay imma just do this part as some pendulum thing later cause it's more rp post then history imo)
~~~~~~~~~~
73 years later, he and his new renter have reached an understanding of sorts. He let's it survive, and it provides him extra energy when he needs it. Fensake was free now, free of a society that he forced himself into a mold for just to be acceptable and free to pursue his own interests and battles. He has established himself currently as a tv star, dressing in an all black and white ninja like uniform and calling himself the Spiritual Ninja Master. It airs every saturday from his new studio in Naruki City.
He had hunted down Urahara near the beginning of his stint on earth and bribed a Gigai off him to help hide. He was allowed to enter but even Urahara has limits and he is no longer allowed to come back. He has...been forced to learn how to fix it himself because of this. He has already begun plans to make a childrens home in Naruki city with the profits from his show and has a truly humanitarian outlook on the world at large in his human life.
ZanpakutōName: Hell Furnace
Zanpakutō spirit: The spirit of Fensake zanpakutou is a partially completed suit of armor sitting on a sort of pedestal. The suit of arm has only lower legs and only the upper body leaving the thigh and pelvis vacant. Despite this the armor will move when and if he were to visit it's inner world by joining the pieces of armor with the same colored energy as used during the Burst Drives
Sealed form: The sealed form of his zanpakutou is a very short reverse-edged Tanto. The total length of his blade is a mere 6 inches and this coupled with the blunt point and reversed edge makes it seen as typically useless in direct zanjutsu combat. There is no guard to his short blade and the wrappings are made of a simple deep green cloth. The pommel is all but unmarked with a simple diagonal line crossing from the left upper corner to the right lower corner.
ShikaiCall out phrase: Erupt, Hell Furnace
Shikai description:His blade gains nozzles along the back-edge of the blade, slightly upraised partial domes that rise of the blade no more then 1/4 of an inch and dot it equally across the 6 inch length 4 times. Because these are along the back edge they do dominate the sharpened back edge. The hilt likewise forms a guard over his knuckles making these a mixture between knuckle knives and kubikiri tanto.
The pommel of the blade sprouts a tassel with approximately 12 small round domes attached to it's 6 inch length. These rounded domes when removed can be attached to anything Fensake may desire, and cannot be removed. The domes when placed will open with a spiraling of the dome down into the base to show that they are actually full sized versions of the partial nozzles on the back edge of his blade. The Nozzles are able to pivot, like the jets of a hot tub to redirect there energy.
Ability: Heki - Using any of the nozzles on the tassel or the ones attached to his short blades Fensake increases his attack strength exponentially. The nozzles do this by firing off fiery energy as a jet engine would. His burst allow him to combine th power of his energy with his fists to increase the striking and attack damage he can output by a hefty fold giving him a deceptive level of strength.
Techniques: Fire God Hells Wrath! - Stabbing his weapons into the ground Fensake causes the earth to erupt in a trail of fire and molten stone to engulf a foe on the ground.
Bankai Bankai name:Crimson Hell Furnace Enigma
Bankai description:: His bankai's appearance covers his front upper body shoulders arms and leads down his entire back and the backs of his legs, nozzles dot every inch of this armor along both of his legs and then run along the spine unspaced while dotting the sides of his back every 4th inch and clustering around both shoulders blades in an oval. The arms and shoulder have nozzles placed roughly every 1.5 inches along the back of the arms though jut from the shoulder at all points available. On the inner arm he has only a nozzle in the middle of the forearm and atop his bicep and at the section of the bicep just before the crook of his elbow. His knuckles are studded with a small nozzle apiece that is to small to provide strong propulsion and a large nozzle on the back hand allows for rapid and powerful punches.
He however is Anchored to a giant upperbody of armor and a helmet with a full mask that floats up and behind him. This armor is controlled by him and is dotted with nozzles on a grandly larger scale then his own and are exponentially more powerful allowing a strike from that weapon to quite literally bring the house down. The anchoring is in the form of chains of thick red metal.
Ability: Heki - The normal latent power, his armor is capable of producing bursts of energy from the nozzles dotting his armored form to increase his attack power immensely. His giants form also is able to exude these bursts of fire to increase it's assault strength. It being so massive is able to deliver vastly more powerful assaults and also flames on the enemy. Getting hit by the flames of his giants wrath is like stepping into an oven of level 70 kidou.
Heavens Mandate - Fensake and the larger scale armored carapace near him are connected by more then the tethering, and the armor mimics his own motions and attacks. It does not however mimic damage between the two.
Techniques: Inner HollowName of inner hollow: Libera Mentum
Personality: He is a collection of Fensake's baser instincts. The hollow that possessed him while able to corrupt him was likewise corrupted by his stronger and more dominant will. It has been reduced to nearly a shadow of itself while only really enhancing the more contained aspects of Fensake's personality such as his enjoyment of a fight and his love for slacking off. If and when it speaks it curses him for being so restrained but for the most part has grown to know to fear it's master due to his masters extreme distaste for it's voice.
Appearance: His inner hollow is a darker skinned version of himself, standing shorter and with less useless muscle then Fensake carries on himself it wears a mockery of whatever outfit Fensake comes to visit it in as a sort of humor. It no longer even bothers to try and fight Fensake on an even playing field and prefers to wait till he is weak to take over and run amok. IT even carries a massively over-sized gourd full of Sake on it's back instead of the sleek simple blades of it's master to mock him further with a ridiculous appearance.
Hollow mask: His mask has a fairly wolf-like appearance to show respect to his true loner attitude and that of his inner hollow. It has markings and rune-like symbols dotting it with a rainbow of colors making it almost appear clown-like in nature. When in use his Hakuda Increases by 2 and his Seijuu increases by 1.
