| Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto Note: This character's past and personality is defined by what we know of him up to the end of the bleach anime. Everything after this is the Yamamoto which will be portrayed in this forum. Name: Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto Age: >>2200 Gender: Male Squad: 1 Rank: Captain-Commander Weapon(s): N/A Personality: As the captain-commander of Gotei 13, Yamamoto is highly respected by most of the Shinigami, most notably Sajin Komamura, who views Yamamoto as a benefactor who saved his life. The embodiment of conviction, Yamamoto follows the laws and regulations of Soul Society to the letter, and expects the same of others. He is not a man to tolerate insubordination, and is vocal with those who attempt to act in such a manner. He is quick to anger in the face of possible betrayal, and can be quite aggressive in combat. When in a state of peace, he carries himself with an air of frailty, even to the point where he has fallen asleep standing while awaiting Shunsui Kyōraku's arrival for a meeting. Due to years of experience, Yamamoto very rarely shows any sign of distress or surprise, usually responding by opening one or two of his eyes, which are partially closed slits the majority of the time. Yamamoto is very loyal to Soul Society and takes his duties very seriously, expecting the same from the rest of the Gotei 13. His loyalty is so great that he is willing to sacrifice himself and the Gotei 13 in order to defeat Aizen, believing it to be their duty to lay down their lives for the sake of the Soul Society if necessary. Another example where Yamamoto shows his loyalty, is when he become visibly angry when Shunsui, Byakuya and Kenpachi lose their haoris and show little regret; to him the haori represents their status as captains. Yamamoto appreciates Eastern cultures and is a master at the Japanese tea ceremony, and subsequently dislikes the "Western" traditions preferred by his lieutenant Chōjirō Sasakibe. Yamamoto holds a tea session every month in the 1st Division quarters for every member of the division. He plaits his own beard and arranges its ends once a month. He also likes to be rubbed down with a dry towel while exposed to the sun on his balcony. Physical Appearance: Yamamoto is the oldest captain in the Gotei 13. He has the appearance of an old man with red eyes a very long white beard, and long eyebrows. There are many scars on his torso and head, the two most prominent being a pair of long, perpendicular scars above his right eye, suggesting numerous battles in his past. After his brief confrontation with Aizen, Yamamoto lost his left arm. He wears the standard Shinigami uniform, but its size is greatly exaggerated. He also drapes his haori over his back instead of actually wearing it. Despite his old and frail appearance, he has a very muscular body that he only reveals when he takes a certain battle stance, something that, Shunsui claims, is not seen too often. He is 5'6" and weighs only 115 lbs. Bio: Yamamoto founded the Shinigami Academy about 2100 years before the current time. Yamamoto was himself a teacher at this academy, and personally instructed Shunsui Kyōraku and Jūshirō Ukitake. He admits to being rather proud of the two. When they became captains, he boasted about them as though they were his own sons. At some point Yamamoto founded the Gotei 13 and approximately one thousand years ago he became its Captain-Commander. Approximately 110 years ago, Yamamoto was noted as being the oldest captain amongst the Gotei 13, followed by Unohana, Shunsui and Ukitake. It is stated that the four of them have been Captains of the Gotei 13 for at least 100 years at that point. Anything before these events is as blurred as the vision of a person who has lived as long as Yamato has. Inner world appearance: The main platform is a flat area on a mountain while the expanse of his inner world is a mountainous region. ZanpakutōName: Ryujin Jakka "Flowing Blade-like Flame" Zanpakutō spirit: Unlike the other Zanpakuto, Ryujin Jakka does not immediately manifest a solid form. Instead, he is only seen in the form of intensely hot flames. Sealed form: Ryujin Jakka usually takes the appearance of a harmless wooden staff which can be used like a spear. At any time, Yamamoto can instantly remove that disguise, by peeling off the wood, to reveal its true form of a standard katana with a dark purple handle and a circular hand guard. Its power is so great that even the strongest of Shinigami are afraid of it even in its sealed form. Shikai Call out phrase: Bansho issai kaijin to nase "Reduce all creation to ashes" Ability: When released, Ryūjin Jakka's blade is engulfed into fire. The aura of this weapon can disintegrate most things that Yamamoto waves the sword at, changing them into nothing more than ash and engulfing the surrounding landscape in a blazing firestorm, the heat of which is intense enough to scorch the sky. Only powerful fighters can resist it, but even then only indirectly. Even in its Shikai, Ryujin Jakka's power is enough to fight against the Shikai of two other captains simultaneously, both of whom had the reputation of being the strongest Captains in Soul Society while together. Unlike other Zanpakutō shown so far, resealing Ryujin Jakka does not deactivate any ability already used against an opponent. Techniques: - Jokaku Enjo "Fortress Blaze" - This ability creates an immense wall of flame that surrounds the target and then forms a huge contained sphere of flame in which to imprison enemies. It is shown to be immensely powerful as it was capable of imprisoning three Captain-level Shinigami for a significant amount of time.
- Taimatsu "Torch" - This ability is able to create a great inferno with the simple wave of Ryūjin Jakka. The fire generated by the attack entirely consumes almost everything that is caught within it until nothing remains but ashes. The flames created by Ryūjin Jakka can be controlled with great precision by Yamamoto to attack only the targets he chooses and he also has power over the intensity of the flames.
- Ennetsu Jigoku "Flames of Hell" - This ability creates seven or more immense pillars of flame that surround an area. The intent of this technique is to trap the opponent in the caged inferno and destroy them. The power of this technique is lethal enough to destroy everyone caught in its vicinity, even Yamamoto himself. These flames are capable of incinerating an area greater than that of Karakura Town.
BankaiBankai name: Fuhen Kaji no Sabaki "Consuming Everlasting Conflagration" Bankai description: The aura of the zanpakto is no longer the threat of this zanpakto; the reiatsu of both the zanpakto and the user are literally transformed into a transcendent essence which is generally described as a "consuming fire" because the reiatsu is so intense, it appears as a bluish-white. The power of the zanpakto makes it so if anyone within 50 yards of the user who does not have 75% of the user's reiatsu will be totally disintegrated. The reiatsu immediately around the user is so hot, the user glows white because the temperatures around him are the equivalent to the heat present on a star. Because the heat is really reiatsu, though, those who have trained to withstand high levels of reiatsu will not be consumed but may be crushed by the sheer magnitude of such intense output of reiatsu. The crushing pressure of the reiatsu also tampers with the releasing of a zanpakto making it so that, if a certain stage in a zanpakto has yet to be released, it will take incredible amounts of reiatsu to overcome the pressure on the zanpakto from Fuhen Kaji no Sabaki. Technique: - Choshinsei Marutsubure "Supernova Complete Collapse" - The user mentally chooses an area within the reach of his reiatsu which takes a great amount of the devastating reiatsu and concentrates it in that area. The region quickly swells up and explodes with incredible potency similar to the supernova of a star with the mass of Jupiter only in the region chosen. Immediately after the explosion, considering most of the mass in the area was too quickly consumed, the focal point of the "supernova" has a complete collapse, sucking in all matter in the same selected region with a violent force.
- Fuuin Zetsumei "Sealed Death" - A quasi-passive skill where Yamamoto basically seals a certain amount of the vast reiatsu into the core of the katana. Moving the reiatsu into the katana, though, makes it possible for him, without a moments notice or plan, release any amount of the stored reiatsu immediately at full force, making contact with his katana when it is is Fuuin zetsumeri lethal for an living being and final for inanimate objects.
- Fenikkusu no Kichigai Tosshin "Mad Charge of the Phoenix" - A compressed for of the intense fiery reiatsu shoots quickly in the form of the Phoenix. If any part of the "bird" touches a living organism, the Phoenix removes all life from the area of contact, transforming the region into ash. (ex.: A feather of the phoenix falls on the front of the left wrist of a person, an area equal to the size of the feather will turn into ashes.

Out from his office and into a Senkaimon, the Captain Commander of Soul Society moves through the Dangai Precipate World. This powerful old man moves slowly, taking each step with such calmness makes it questionable whether he fully comprehends the weight of the matter in Karakura town. The second he steps out of Dangai Precipate World, his life is at stake. The being which basically forces the Captain Commander out of his office has immense power, and Yamamoto's loose Haori, his closed eyes, and having his zanpakto covered, add to the possibilities that this great man may be ignorant of the perilous situation he and the captains of Soul Society are facing. Yamamoto's long fingers grip his brown cane housing arguably the most powerful zanpakto in history. Yamamoto's eyes seem to be shut, and, in reality, they are. Yamamoto had not come to Karakura Town for some time nor had he walked through the Dangai Precipate World for years, but, his senses were too sharp to need aid from his visual organs. The amount of reiatsu and reshi left in this area lay hidden and difficult to identify for all, except one that has dealt with these spiritual components for well over 1000 years. Each and every time Yamamoto's foot touched the ground, there was more confidence in such a meager task than the amount of confidence most shinigami had all together. This confidence came from one reason: Yamamoto was sure he would not die.
As he moved closer to the exit, the light at the end of the Dangai Precipate World shone strong enough to make Yamamoto open his eyes to behold it. A few minutes ago, he sat in his office simply observing the beauties of several phenomenons he had not stopped to observe for so long. Yamamoto's conscience still yearned for a period to cease all of his worries for just a few minutes and just appreciate the life he had preserved through the countless battles he had participated in. His conscience mind did not think on those matters, but, instead, it thought of a bigger problem: how much Soul Society had changed in such a short time. He recalled before he had time to bicker with Sasakibe about tea parties, but now he had a Lieutenant who has completely different. He recalled having odd, generally stubborn captains for most of his divisions, but he saw promise in each of them and even had time to train them, but, now, he felt so impersonal, he almost felt ashamed that all he knew about Hisagi, despite Hisagi having an active role in Seireitei for so long, was Kazeshini and Division 9. Yamamoto missed knowing his workers. He sent them into Karakura Town and gave them orders on how he thought they could work best, but he had such a loose grasp on how they worked, that he asked them to just avoid fighting until he arrived and formulated a plan. Yamamoto's movements slowed as his mind wandered to the very disappointing reality that the soul he knew best which was currently present in Downtown Karakura Town was his enemy.
Though he was deep in thought and now walked with his eyes slightly open, Yamamoto's senses never shut down nor grew dim. As he finished traversing two-thirds of the Precipate World, he stopped in his tracks, instinctively tossed his cane/zanpakto up about 3 feet into the air, and both he and the cane vanished. In an instant, Yamamoto was moving out of the senkaimon. The gates had only peered open and Yamamoto had already exited them. When he emerged he already moved at a great speed so his entrance to Downtown Karakura had no big boom or anything related, he simply zipped through the gates which were positioned far behind most of the fight. The moment the second pair of gates opened, Yamamoto already appeared in the line of battle. His clothing shot hastily toward the right as he moved right between Eon and Dalaga. Eon, the new captain who was definitely strong enough for the position, but Yamamoto was oblivious to Eon's tactical skills, so he underestimated Eon's reasoning for attacking Dalaga. Yamamoto's right arm arched downward and right, directly into the flames of Eon's attack. Yamamoto's right hand held a purple hilt with golden diamonds running down the center. Though this design had no real intricacy or glamor, it easily instilled fear in anyone who say it, not because the design meant much, but because Yamamoto only wielded one weapon: the mighty Ryujjin Jakka.
The silver, sharp part of the zanpakto collided into the flames moving toward Dalaga. Though the flames proceeded from behind Yamamoto, his face remained forward, looking downward. The movement of the flames made it possible for Yamamoto to dispel them, despite their great strength, and allow Yamamoto to stand in the same plane as Dalaga. Yamamoto stood about 20 feet from Dalaga and could still reach the flames because of the flame's strength. The collision between the flames and Yamamoto's blade should have been caustic, destroying much of the area, but Yamamoto used his reiatsu as well to scatter the effects of the flames into the air, effectively protecting the souls and surroundings. Once the fire dissipated, Yamamoto moved his face up slowly to view the opponent which stood before him. Yamamoto's pebble-sized red eyes shot a glare which pierced through the air and landed right in Dalaga's face.
With his beard and clothing still waving in the air, Yamamoto yelled loudly with his powerful, raspy voice, "Helios Dalaga! What have you done to provoke such a response from a new Captain?" Yamamoto looked kept his eyes fixed on Dalaga, but spoke to Eon, though his message was said worded in such a way to relay a meesage to the surrounding captains, "Tell all the captains in the area that have retreated as I commanded to engage an espada outside of this area, because I would assume none remained here to hear me but you since they followed my orders and retreated to other parts of the city." Dalaga paused and focused his eyes even more intently on Dalaga and declared snidely, "Since negotiations have failed."
Yamamoto's eyes continued to stare forward with a dead, neutral stare, not at Dalaga, but simply ahead. Yamamoto stood calm holding his zanpakto well ready to attack, but he did not need to attack. Dalaga's actions set off alarms in this old man's head. He recalled men who have acted akin to Dalaga's current words and actions. Men who thought they could stand before the original shinigami. Yamamoto did not enjoy them, but, oddly, despite the ruin they brought, and the things they caused, Yamamoto did not hate them. He simply ceased to have any emotions against these "transcendent" beings. These beings who believed they rivaled the very hand which helped establish the term shinigami. Why they thought they could stand before him and hold their own? Yamamoto never cared to look into this; he found it much easier when these men came directly to him. Yamamoto squeezed his cane firmly which matched his strong stance, despite standing in plain air. Dalaga's allusion to Aizen Sosuke would probably cause feelings of anger due to the provocation Dalaga tried to conjure, but, as aforementioned, Yamamoto had grown immune to tactics against his emotions: he had already learned what powerful emotions can do.
Yamamoto's keen senses felt another being enter the area. The reiatsu of this male emitted a similar frequency to that of Dalaga's. It did not take much reasoning for Yamamoto to know how to proceed. Yamamoto removed his left hand and its long fingers from the cane. He lifted his right hand along with the zanpakto, moving it in an arc trajectory toward the right, allowing the zanpakto to shed the outside brown skin in a fluid fashion, revealing the menacing power which gave this great, historic shinigami a great deal of his fame. The most powerful fire zanpakto in history. There existed no doubt in any being which had seen or even heard of Sotaicho's zanpakto that the only detail open to argument in this statement was whether the adjective "fire" was necessary or not. As it moved, its strength could almost create a rift in the dimensions. Such massive powerful emitted just from the sealed form of the great zanpakto. The leisure in its movements and Yamamoto's still neutral gaze made it evident Yamamoto had given into Dalaga's desires.
"Bansho issai Kaijin to Nase." The coarse, old vocal chords of the great man vibrated again, for the innumerable time to help release the flowing flame held within the reshi silver reshi of Sotaicho's blade. The very release of this blade was a harbringer to the area. Someone, anyone, had to prepare for a near-death experience. "Ryujjin Jakka." Fires spontaneously blew out, violently emerging from the purple hilt of the fire beast, but, odd effect. Ryujjin Jakka's very reiatsu makes a fiery explosion of fire enough to consume the very sky in a pure, vivacious fire, but it did not. The zanpakto continued to create more flames as Yamamoto continued to move his zanpakto, but, in a quick second, almost unperceivable because of its incredible speed, the flames bursted with the magnificent rage and power of Ryujjin Jakka...at Zander. The consuming flame did not even seem to have time to swallow everything around it. It moved so quickly, everything around the flames had yet to spontaneously combust at the presence of the unfathomable temperature and potency of the flames. There stood virtually no chance that even the pretty fast Zander could run because of the breadth of these flames expanded to more than the width of the street. Yamamoto continued to look straight, almost as if oblivious of the occurrence, or maybe he did not even have a chance to show his feelings. Calling the flames fast was truly an understatement. The speed of the flames and their target made Yamamoto's motives plain as day.
Yamamoto held his arm out sure that his attack pushed Dalaga back into a wall. The strength of Ryujin Jakka's flames would probably evaporate the poor young man if Dalaga did not intercede and counter the flames. The reiatsu released when Ryujin Jakka emerged from the metal cage of the zanpakto could sufficate a whole metropolis from the amount of oxygen used up by the menacing flames. This being an obvious fact, Yamamoto basically knew Dalaga would have to dive down and protect his relative from the destructive force focused on the poor boy. Yamamoto stared forward with dull, almost closed eyes with a neutral facial expression because Dalaga made the game far too easy bringing in a burden. The famed Sotaicho took in a deep breath to smell the incineration which the flames would cause on whatever and whoever they hit. Yet, his eyes deceived him. It seemed as if Dalaga simply looked over at what happened and even added to the occurrence.
Yamamoto's eyes opened, not wide, just visibly open, allowing his red pupils to receive the light of the Sun and of the flames which ran rampantly about the region between Dalaga and himself. Yamamoto's expression sent the message to Dalaga, making it evident he wanted an explanation. The Head Captain of Soul Society just finished cornering his opponent, but the opponent aided the cornering. Did Dalaga hate this other person with similar reiatsu? Did this person pose a threat to Dalaga? Yamamoto invested his energy in allowing Ryujin Jakka to emerge completely from the zanpakto before he continued trying to deduce what just occurred. Yamamoto moved his right arm which held the powerful fire-based zanpakto and moved it higher to where he held it before himself at about chest level with the zanpakto held at a slant which rose near his own face. Yamamoto allowed Dalaga to aim one of the two katanas he held toward his own body, but kept his small eyes on the man. Yamamoto's whole body remained still during the ordeal, though his clothing moved from all the flames roaming about from the release of Ryujin Jakka.
As Dalaga spoke, Yamamoto completely ignored the words Dalaga spoke because the old Captain knew very well once the muscles on Dalaga's face tightened preparing to open Dalaga's mouth that Dalaga would spew worthless statements. Instead of listening, Yamamoto watched and listened to the delivery of Dalaga's message. He listened for the arrogance and confidence Dalaga had in his statements. This is only the prelude...Yamamoto saw the mask crawl onto Dalaga's face once his statements ended. Suddenly, the spike of reiatsu expected from Dalaga's transformation increased to an even higher level. Yamamoto soon noticed the warm and familiar heat from Ryujin Jakka's flames seemed to fade away, despite the flames turn in the area, melting buildings, evaporating distant clouds, and even outshining the Sun's light. A quick analysis of the situation made Yamamoto realize he did not fully understand what his attack had caused. Once Dalaga began to speak this time, Yamamoto listened, not for the message, but for the pause or indication by Dalaga that he would attack. While Dalaga spoke, Yamamoto could feel the loss of feeling, but, while his sense of touch decayed, he sensed the reiatsu pounding about him, the harbinger of a possible defeat, increment greatly. The reiatsu moved so powerfully through the area, Yamamoto could not pinpoint where it came from, and the flames of Ryujin Jakka did not give him much room to see.
Sinners of Hell... Yamamoto's grip on Ryujin Jakka tightened to where the ancient katana erupted in violent flames which now thrashed about Sotaicho. The temperature around them actually decreased despite the adding of the flames because of the nature of Ryujin Jakka. The flames quickly lost their identity of fire and reflected the Captain Commander's reiatsu, so pure and terrible it took the appearance of flames. Once Dalaga prepared to attack, Yamamoto felt a further lack of sensation on his body to where he questioned if Ryujin Jakka's hilt lay within his long fingers or not. Sweat broke from Sotaicho's brow, but he deduced the situation and knew how to repair it. As Dalaga charged forward, Yamamoto felt the large reiatsu remain stationary but continue to grow in disproportionate amounts. The strength of the reiatsu made it easy for him to identify why Yamamoto could not understand where the reiatsu arose or located itself. The immense reiatsu transcended the normal nature of reiatsu and gained an identity. Yamamoto knew he had to inquire what made this sort of reiatsu appear, so he could not engage Dalaga now. As Dalaga approached with his abnormally high speed, Yamamoto moved Ryujin Jakka while he let out a powerful yell, moving all of his upper body with full force to deflect the powerful slash coming from Dalaga, while his lower body pushed him backward using shunpo, so both the fire user's blades clashed heavily, but released quickly.
Yamamoto appeared about 50 feet from the inception point of all his worries. While Ryujin Jakka's flames dissipated from where he once stood, Yamamoto could see the Sins emerging. The first and most powerful reiatsu came from a lofty looking woman who stood at the large gate structure. The gate held many skulls and had chains wrapped about it. From the pitch black inside the gate came a purple gas which decorated the air around the other beings. The head captain knew very well the captains could not fight such enemies without respite and more information. Yamamoto's chest inflated with air while he drew the fiery sword near him. He slashed at the air with Ryujin Jakka who released a long column of fire before Yamamoto. "Everyone retreat immediately. Do not engage anyone whatsoever." Yamamoto yelled into the flames which scattered throughout the area in the form of fire butterflies which carried the Captain Commander's message.
