| Name: Kisuke Urahara Nickname: Kisuke Age: Unknown (Well over 110 years.) Gender: Male Rank: - Ex-Captain of Squad 12
- Ex-Squad 2 Third Seat
- Ex-Head of the Onmitsukido's Detention Unit
- Founder of the Shinigami Research and Development Institute
Weapon: A zanpaku-to. Personality: Kisuke Urahara has a man of many faces, to be sure. Often, he is seen as laid-back and easy-going, slightly sarcastic, a tad perverted, very jovial, and unarguably eccentric. Urahara is one prone to laziness, to shirking his own duties, and various other mischief that would usually get him in trouble. While talking to people, Kisuke has a tendency to keep his eyes hidden beneath the brim of his hat, making it hard for all around to read him. Despite his laziness, his eyes sparkle with genuine intelligence of the highest degree. Despite his care-free attitude, he speaks politely, though is sometimes sarcastic. A gentleman in many ways; a slacker in many more. Urahara is more of a 'watch-and-learn' type of person, rather than those who are 'get-involved-get-hurt-learn-your-lesson' type of people. It's easy to say he learns from other people's mistakes. Often, you can find him on the sidelines, watching events unfold, there, but never actively participating. He tends to know more than he lets on, though it's hard for others to tell, due to him being so un-readable. Urahara thinks of himself as a catalyst, this being where his laziness comes in. He prefers others do the work for him, than to do it himself, though this doesn't mean he is loathe to help someone. A long while ago, approximately 110 years ago, Kisuke Urahara was different from the man we know today. He was a serious lad, often nervous, flustered, and quiet; which is quite a 180, considering how today he can be excitable, boisterous, and sometimes downright annoying to some. He was somewhat unsure of his ability to lead, though he eventually hardens this resolve when he becomes Captain of Squad 12. Despite having been uncomfortable with his old role, he seemed to often be at ease at the Second Squad Detention Unit. To those who don't know Urahara, he would seem a bit like an immature fool who couldn't keep his own against one of the younger employees that helped to maintain the Urahara Shop. However, those that knew Urahara even a little bit, would know he was no one to be trifled with. With a genius intellect, amazing analytic abilities, and would have nearly no problem pulling the wool over your eyes as he delivered a back-stabbing blow. During battle, he retains most of the traits he has when without, for a time still easy-going, sarcastic, and perverted. However, there are many times, during battle especially, when Kisuke gets very serious, his voice lowering below its normal boisterous tone, almost sounding deadly, though usually after he laments this moment of intelligence or forewarning with a joke or something else. Physical Appearance:Kisuke Urahara is exactly 6 feet tall, weighing in at 152 lbs. He is average of build, if a bit lanky. His skin color is rather pale, with light-blonde hair atop his head, parted on either side, with a thick strand hanging down to his nose, and grey eyes. Urahara has chin stubble, which he claims is his proof that he is a man; jokingly, of course. Urahara wears a dark green shirt, with a deep v, revealing some of his chest. Along with this, he wears dark green pants, topped with a black coat with a white diamond pattern along the bottom half, looking a bit like a Captain's haori. He typically wears traditional Japanese sandals, and a white-and-green striped bucket hat atop his head, giving his eyes the appearance of those of a raccoon. Bio:Kisuke Urahara grew up in the Rukongai with his oldest friend, Yoruichi Shihoin, living alongside her at the mansion, along with Tessai Tsukabishi. He joined the Gotei 13 around the time Yoruichi joined the Onmitsukido. He attained the role of third seat of the second division, which was intertwined with the aforementioned group at the time. As one of his duties as a seated officer, Urahara became the Head of the Onmitsukido Detention Unit. Approximately 110 years ago, the previous Squad 12 Captain had been promoted to Royal Guard, leaving the spot open. It was at this point that Yoruichi Shihoin sent in a referral, stating she believed there was no better candidate than Kisuke Urahara himself. Yoruichi waited to mention this, until they had just finished a sparring session. With that, Urahara wandered the Soul Society and Rukongai, gathering information on Shinigami Defectors. Eventually, he found his defectors, and single-handedly, only resorting to Hakuda. Urahara easily passed his Captain proficiency exam, thus taking on the role of Captain of Squad 12, along with the Lieutenant, Hiyori Sarugaki. At first, he encountered some resistance with Hiyori, deciding to opt to take her to the Nest of Maggots eventually. While there, the zanpaku-to were taken away. This visit served a double purpose; to show his Lt. Sarugaki that he had what it takes to be her Captain, and to simultaneously start the Research and Development Team with the prisoner, Mayuri Kurotsuchi. Prior to visiting the Nest of Maggots, however, is when he decided to change the purpose of Squad 12, which thus enfuriated Sarugaki even further. 9 years later, disappearances stared to occur. Eventually, Tessai Tsukabishi and Kisuke Urahara himself discovered Shinji Hirako, along with various other Captain's, Lieutenants, and Seated Officers, being attacked by Sosuke Aizen. The various members were going through what Urahara termed as 'Hollowfication". He tried to help them, and so had Tessai use a forbidden Kido to transport them to his labs. This didn't work, however, the Hogyoku he had created having an entirely different result. For this, Urahara and Tessai were sentenced to being exiled in the World of the Living. Before the sentence could be carried out, however, they were rescued by Yoruichi Shihoin, and taken to an underground training facility. There, Urahara created a reiatsu-concealing Gigai, and escaped to the Human World, where he set up a shop of various wears that he sells. Inner World Appearance: Urahara's inner world is much like the Training Grounds below his shop; it stretches as far as the eye can see, and is mostly rocky terrain, with sparse vegetation, and that which is there, is dying. ZanpakutōName: Benihime Zanpakutō spirit: A woman dressed elegantly in red, Benihime has black hair, a curvaceous figure, and eyes of the darkest night. She would be the object of many a man's dreams, having a beauty that seems to surpass this world entirely. She wears red heels, and has bright red lips to match. Sealed form: In its sealed form, Benihime is a shikomizue, in that it is a cane. The handle comes off, to reveal the slim, almost foil-like blade, the shaft serving as a sheathe. On the bottom of the cane, is a flaming skull, which can be used to push spirits out of their Gigai's. Shikai Call out phrase: Awaken Shikai description: Benihime turns from a shikomizue, into a traditional zanpaku-to. It takes the shape of a slick, medium-sized sword. The hilt's grip, which has a gentle black-decorative wrapping, bends forward at the end with a pommel shaped to look overlapped three times and a crimson tassel dangling from its base. Instead of a tsuba, there is a U-shape guard covering three inches of blade, with a flower petal design. At the base of the guard is a red string wrapped thrice around the hilt, with a three-loop bow on the back side and a folded paper decoration on the front side. The blade is black with a silver-edge and is somewhat thicker than the cane-sealed state. It remains straight and slim with a somewhat short size with the tip ending in a slanted razor-like edge instead of being tapered to a point Ability: Benihime is capable of a variety of crimson-colored energy techniques that draw on the reiatsu of its own user. Techniques:Nake, Benihime: This technique fires particularly strong concussive and destructive crimson-colored energy blasts. The energy flows out of the blade and fires usually in the arc of the sword's swing. The technique is capable of taking on a point-blank Cero from an Espada-level Arrancar by dissipating it with a blast of equal power. He is also able to charge-up this technique to produce considerable more damage. Chikasumi no Tate: This technique forms an hexagonal-shaped crimson barrier in front of the blade for defensive tactics. The barrier is called out with the same command as the "Nake" technique. The barrier is able to easily block a direct punch from the immensely strong Yammy Llargo without damaging itself or repercussions to Urahara, and block Ichigo's first use of his "Getsuga Tenshō" while only slightly eroding, after which Urahara comments that he would have lost an arm were it not for the shield. Kirisaki, Benihime: This technique is used in conjunction with the Chikasumi no Tate technique. When the Blood Mist Shield is created, upon using the same command as the Nake technique, hundreds, if not thousands, of needles fly out from the shield and encompass the surrounding area in front of the shield, making this attack very hard to block. Kamisori, Benihime: A technique that fires an energy arc capable of cutting through materials and substances with relative ease. It was able to cut through a Hierro-protected tentacle of Luppi Antenor. He sends a wave of energy that moves towards the target and is capable of instantly changing direction. However, after a few seconds if it has not hit anything, the attack dissipates. Tsuppane, Benihime: After analyzing a technique's Reishi composition as well as the subject's muscle movements when they use the technique, by simply drawing a circle of energy with the edge of Benihime and time it right, this technique can cancel out the enemy's attack at the point of contact. (Only usable on Spiritual Attacks, and requires a distance of at least 100 ft.) Shibari, Benihime: This technique launches condensed energy into the form of a tangible blood red net, generated from the blade length and simply thrown over the intended target (typically from above) with a simple slashing motion from Benihime. The net further binds and restricts an opponent’s movements by constricting to its form. This net appears elongated and somewhat narrow. Hiasobi, Benihime, Juzutsunagi: After using the Shibari technique Urahara stabs the net with the tip of Benihime, creating orbs of fire along the outside length of the net, which explode like linked land-mines in a domino formation leading toward the intended target that is bound under the net. When the orbs come into direct contact with the intended target it creates a tremendously large and devastating explosion. BankaiBankai name: Benihime Sikei Bankai description: The crimson tassel emits a string-like red spiritual energy that leads to Urahara's heart, no matter the distance. Ability: A sacrificial Bankai, this is what Urahara means when he says Benihime is "Not very nice." Each attack is immensely powerful, somewhat more powerful than most Captain's techniques, but it all comes at a blood price. By receiving a wound, which depends upon the attack he wants to activate, Urahara is able to use techniques of immense class and caliber. He is also able to use all of his Shikai abilities with no damage done to himself. Not only this, but the wounds that are given by Benihime each become infected almost immediately. The larger the injury Urahara takes, however, the more powerful each attack is. The reason for this, is because the weaker he becomes, the stronger his attacks become. Techniques:Sai, Benihime: From the tip of his zanpaku-to, a crimson x is expelled, similar to a Nake, Benihime, or a Getsuga Tensho. It's a lot quicker than Nake, Benihime, and deals a lot more damage, though it takes slightly longer. It requires a red orb to be charged up for one post. If a person takes the full brunt of the attack, some of their limbs could be severed. The cost of this is a slash across the forearms of each arm. Nakigoe, Benihime: Unlike most other techniques, the cost for this one is an internal injury. Blood comes from Urahara's eyes, like tears. But in this state, everything seems to move slower for him, giving him better reaction time, and making his strikes quicker and stronger. Uchitorou, Benihime: This is a five-turn attack, along with Urahara's most powerful attack. Turn 1-At the cost of a large slash running down Urahara's chest, he is able to fire a single red blast from the tip of his zanpaku-to. The red blast seems to dissipate in midair, however, nearly as soon as it fires. Turn 2- The ground shakes uncontrollably, to the point to where the environment starts destroying itself. The tremors are severe enough to where anyone not in mid-air, will be tossed about like a rag doll, the tremors strong enough to bounce them in the air for a few seconds. Turn 3- The tremors stop. Turn 4- Urahara stabs his zanpaku-to in the ground, where he recieves another slash across his chest, just as deep as the first. His reiatsu seems to completely disappear, as he becomes engulfed in a red spiritual energy. Turn 5- At the exact point that Urahara stabbed the ground, the ground will seem to bulge. The ground will crack, and fall away to show a large, red orb, just in time for it to explode and send thousands, of rays of red spiritual energy, each with the strength of one Kamisori, Benihime. Extra Information: Kisuke Urahara has a variety of devices that he has created that he often uses, which are as follows; -A gigai that hides the power of a user, and drains the power rather than restoring it. If worn long enough, can effectively be used to turn one human. -An inflatable gigai that requires one breath of air to inflate. It can be used as a decoy in combat. - Urahara has developed the technique to bury matter within a soul. The matter can later be removed by either disintegrating the soul around the object, or it can be removed by breaking down the soul's cohesion and allowing the object to be removed without any damage to the soul. -Urahara has a cloak that he created, which allows him to hide his reiatsu from all enemies completely. -A protective armor designed especially to engage in direct battle with enough durability to smash through an Arrancar's Hierro. It is also rather effective defensively, able to protect the wearer's said body part from damage, even if the armor itself is destroyed in the process. Role-play sample:- Roleplay Sample:
Boring. A word with many meanings, yet used in only the most general of senses. It was a word that could be used to describe the day in Urahara Shoten. The Shoten was a small, old-fashioned building located in the shopping district of Karakura Town. On the outside, it seemed like a normal shop, but on the inside, however, it catered to the needs of a variety of people; both spiritual, and human. To humans, it sold a variety of food goods up front. Yuzu Kurosaki frequenting there because she was able to purchase a large quantity of appetizers for only 500 yen.
Inside, it looks like a normal store. It has various goods on display on shelves on each side of the doorway; from candy to vegetables, Urahara claims to have all food needs. Except milk. He had a milk section, but it was always gone, due to Urahara feeding the nearby alley cats with it, then not having enough to sell the next day.
When Urahara found a spiritually aware customer approaching, however, at the touch of a button, everything changed. The food items were immediately replaced with various sundries and devices either from the Soul Society, or custom-made by Urahara himself. It sells a wide range of things, from Mod Soul Pills, which come in many different dispensers, to Gigai's. Not to mention Urahara's shop was a popular place to come from if anyone needed information. Somehow, Urahara seemed to know it all.
In the back of the shop, however, were the residential rooms. A hallway was formed, with rooms lining the sides of it, a large dining room and kitchen at the very end. In the rooms in the hallway, were the bedrooms of the current resident's; Jinta, a young man he has employed as a worker, and Ururu, a young woman that is also employed, along with Sakon, another young man that's employed to arrange and stock the food, and Remus. Remus worked the "special areas", in the back. Urahara often jokes that it's because nobody will want to see Remus' face, but secretly it was because Remus was the only one he could trust not to mess with his various gadgets in his hidden laboratory.
The rest of the shoten was fairly uniform; in the back, the dining room was fairly uniform. It was connected via a double doorway to the kitchen, where Urahara would often have his employees cook for him, either when he was bored, or when he was hungry. He didn't always eat the food, however; sometimes he just liked giving them a hard time.
Underneath the table in the dining room, however, was a trapdoor. It led to a set of descending stairs. They led down, deep underground, to a training area. It was a vast area, made of part sand, and part rock, for training. The stairs almost seemed like a portal to another world, as inside of the training ground was a sky, stretching as far as the eye can see. This was something Urahara was rather proud of, seeing as he had miraculously built it himself, a feat even he is unsure of how he had accomplished it.
A yawn broke the silence of the shop, as the shopkeeper himself was, per usual, bored of the all-too quiet shop. At the moment, Mr. Hat-and-Clogs was laying atop the counter, the candy that was usually on top having been moved to a small table he'd had his employees carry in, purely so he could express his laziness on the counter instead. He rested on his side, facing the door. One of his legs lay straight, while the other was propped up in the air, bent at the knee, the bottom of his foot resting on the counter. The hand who's shoulder was not touching the counter, rested on the counter, while with his other elbow against the table, he propped his head up with his hand, his striped green hat shading his eyes as it often did.
"Sakon, I'm so bored!" Urahara exclaimed, VERY over-dramatically. "I'm going to die of boredom!" He whined, flipping onto his stomach with a sigh as he said so. Next to him, a young boy who had been sweeping turned, glaring at him. The young man had fiery red hair, like Jinta himself, with dull grey eyes. Other than his hair, there was nothing really special about him, or so it seemed. His grip on the broom tightened, veins coming from his arms as he knew what was about to be asked. "No, I will not-" He began saying, before he was cut off by Urahara. "Sakon, I require sustenance!" He exclaimed, before letting his head flop back down on the counter. "And make it in the form of curry, please." He said, his voice muffled, to which the young man huffed. He dropped his broom, before complying with what the elder blond man had demanded. Throughout his process of making the curry, he was given sad looks by Remus, Jinta, and Ururu themselves, as if they pitied the poor boy.
As Sakon was walking down the hallway with the food, a thought came to mind, an evil one at that, judging by how his lips curved into a maniacal grin. He walked to Urahara, practically singing. "Oh Urahara-sama, here's your food~" he sang, as he raised it above his head, tipping the bowl until the contents were almost spilling over. Suddenly, his hand stopped, and he felt a pressure on his wrist. He looked down to see Urahara looking up at him from underneath the brim of his hat, holding the kid's wrist in his own. "Nobody has poured food on me, and lived to tell the tale." He said darkly, dangerously. Within seconds, Sakon almost felt as if he had urinated himself, only to find it was just sweat. Nothing, not in the 11 years he'd been alive, even when he encountered a Hollow, had anything scared him as badly as the look he had gotten from the shop owner.
He nodded, as he placed the food down. He fell to his knees, and crawled in a corner, rocking back and forth as if he had something wrong with him mentally. Urahara perked up quite a bit, grinning as he grabbed the bowl of curry. "This is great, Sakon. Good job. A-plus." He said, around a mouthful of food. Thinking, as he chewed, looking at the boy in the corner. "Hey, how about some of that training I promised you?" he asked after he had finally swallowed a mouthful of food. At this, Sakon brightened up, before running to the dining room, shouting, "Yay!" Urahara chuckled, as he stood up, shrugging, as he asked himself, "What could it hurt?"
He walked through the dimly lit hallway of the shop, before stopping at the second door on the right. He knocked briefly, before hearing someone speak. "Come in." The voice said, a quiet sound, barely more than a feminine whisper. Urahara grasped the knob and turned, opening the door to see a young girl sitting at a table on the floor, reading a book. The girl was young, looking to be roughly 12, maybe 13. She had black hair pulled into tails on either side of her head, with two long bangs conjoined at the base running down her forehead, parting on either side of her nose. She had a sad look, despite the fact she seemed to be in a fine mood.
"Think you could watch the store for a bit? I'm going to just help the kid out a bit, since he's been waiting for so long." He said, to which the girl nodded. "Yes, Urahara-san." She said, marking her place in her book. She stood, before smoothing down her pink polka-dotted skirt, and making her way to the door. Urahara backed away to let her through, before continuing down the hallway, hearing the door shut behind him, along with the girl's soft footsteps to the front.
Urahara saw that the table was already moved off to the side, a chuckle escaping his lips as he walked downstairs. The boy was definitely eager. But then again, who could blame him? Urahara had been putting it off for a while now, trying to decide best how to train him, before he figured he would just use Hakuda to expand upon the boys skills in hand-to-hand combat, first. Urahara continued down, reaching the last step, before looking to the training grounds, somewhat with pride. The landscape stretched as far as the eye could see, with no sign other than the stairs that they were underneath a building. He saw the red hair of Sakon a few yards off, and walked to join him.
"So, what are you gonna teach me? Are you gonna teach me how to do a Benihime?" He asked excitedly. "Now, now, calm down. First off, I can't teach you to 'do a Benihime'. She'll only let me do it, since I'm her partner." He said in a good-natured manner. "Now, second, we're going to teach you hakuda." He said, to which the boy's brows creased in confusion. "What's hakuda?" He asked, clearly confused.
Urahara smiled, before saying, "It's the art of hand-to-hand combat. A necessity in battle, as at any moment, when you're locked blades with an opponent, that one punch or kick could be the deciding factor for the fight. Not to mention many people forgo the zanpaku-to or swords, and fight with raw strength alone." He said to the boy. Sakon frowned, before asking, "Well...when do I get to learn with a sword?" At this, Urahara turned, and began walking a few feet away. "When we're done with hakuda." He said, before turning. "Lesson 1: Always be ready for a strike." Urahara said. By the way the raccoon-looking man's eyes lit up, he seemed to notice something as he looked at the boys feet.
"Oh, before we start, you might want to tie your shoe." Sakon looked down, and hurriedly fell to his knee so he could tie the offending cloth. While he did so, he felt a large pressure upon the back of his head, as he fell face-first into the ground. He jumped up, turning to see Urahara, a glare upon his face, and a comical vein marked at his temple. "WHAT WAS THAT FOR?!" he demanded, rubbing the now-growing lump on his head left him by his tutor. "What did I tell you? Always be ready for a strike." He said. "Number 2, never expect the enemy to play fair." He said, as he kicked up sand, before landing a multitude of blows upon the boys body, purposely aiming not to hit his head this time.
A few more hours of this, and Sakon was trudging up the stairs, dirty, battered, and bruised, whilst Urahara walked behind, seemingly whistling. "So, what have we learned today?" He asked, fully expecting his student to recite the rules that he had, quite literally, beat into his head today. "Never to ask you to train me." He said, slouching from weariness. Urahara chuckled, as they emerged from the trapdoor, closing it with his foot from behind. "Move the table, please." Urahara asked, as he walked back up front. The boy made a disgusted, 'ugh' sound, causing Urahara to smile as he walked down the hall, arriving at the door to the front of the shop. He stopped, thinking, before turning back to the boy. "Oh, and Sakon, thanks for making my day less boring." He said, smiling. He quickly opened and entered the door, in time to hear glass shattering on the other side of the door. He opened it again, putting a little bit of his face through, before practically singing, "You're cleaning this mess up, by the way." This elicited another glass object to be thrown, crashing to the door also as Urahara pulled his face away just in the nick of time. "Kid's got a lot of energy." Urahara remarked to himself, listening to the colorful words Sakon was using to express his irritation at the man.
[Note: Going for as high as I can get.]
