ThemeName: Ichigo Kurosaki
Nickname: Strawberry
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Weapon(s): N/A
Personality: When he was young, Ichigo considered his mother to be the center of his world, always smiling when he was with Masaki and he was regularly holding her hand. Despite crying whenever he lost in a match at the dojo he attended, Ichigo started to smile again as soon as he saw Masaki when she came to pick him up. At a very young age, Ichigo heard his father saying that his name means "to protect one thing", which instilled in him a desire to protect his mother. When his sisters were born he began attending a dojo for the sake of protecting them, since then the number of people he wished to protect has continued to grow, causing Ichigo to risk his life to protect both his family and strangers.
As a teenager, Ichigo's personality is much more complex. Stubborn, short-tempered, strong-willed and impulsive. He attempts to maintain a detached and "cool" image, despite claiming not to care about what other people think about him. He generally keeps his face set in a permanent scowl, with his eyebrows drawn together. His outspoken, hot-headed demeanor is a trait Ichigo himself acknowledged, and that if somebody picks a fight with him, he cannot help fighting back. He coldly refers to his teachers as “instructors”. He is shown to be genuinely compassionate and empathetic about others.
Ichigo is also a capable student, ranked 23rd in his year at school, studying regularly and not neglecting his schoolwork. He works as hard as he does to overcome the misconceptions many have about him based on his hair color and fighting. Ichigo hates fortune telling, horoscopes, feng shui, psychics and anyone whose trade involves taking money from people for things that they cannot see. He has difficulty remembering people's faces and names. Ichigo becomes extremely shy and uncomfortable around nude or immodestly dressed women, a fact that many have teased him for. Ichigo is often disrespectful when talking to those older than himself, calling Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto "gramps" and referring to several of the Shinigami captains by their given names without using honorifics.
When it comes to fighting, Ichigo has a complex sense of honor; he regularly seeks to exact revenge for the actions of his opponent. He often taunts and belittles his opponents when fighting, sometimes even attacking without warning. Ichigo has a strong desire to win his fights in what he views as a legitimate manner. To this end, he has refused the aid of his inner Hollow, even when knowing that it would allow him to win. However, Ichigo's resolve in battle can waver at times, which can impede his fighting prowess and goes into a state of depression and self-loathing when he loses a major battle or lets a friend down.
Physical Appearance:Ichigo looks like a normal teenage boy, except that his hair is spiky orange, a trait that he has been ridiculed about for years on end. He is a fairly tall, lean-built person with peach skin and brown eyes. He likes to wear tight clothes top and bottom. He has a tendency to wear shirts patterned with the number 15, because his name is a homonym for the number.
When in his spiritual form, Ichigo wears standard Shinigami attire, which also consists of a thicker strap across his chest. He also has four black vertical lines on his forearms and black, tattoo-like bands crossing over his chest, wrists, and ankles. Similar bands, but with white ends, are around his neck as collars.
Bio:Ichigo was born on July 15th, as the son of Isshin and Masaki Kurosaki, 15 years before he became a Shinigami. His sisters Karin and Yuzu were born a few years later. When he was four, Ichigo joined a karate dojo, where he met and befriended Tatsuki Arisawa. Tatsuki beat Ichigo in every match they had. Tatsuki would also help Ichigo if he was being picked on by bullies and cheer him up if he was upset.
Ichigo was able to see spirits for as long as he could remember. He could see them so clearly that, as a child, he could not tell the living from the dead. This resulted in him appearing to other people to be looking at deserted places and talking to himself. This caused people to say that he could see ghosts, though when Tatsuki Arisawa asked him about this, he denied being able to see them.
On June 17th, when Ichigo was nine years old, he and his mother were walking home alongside one of Karakura Town's rivers; which was swollen from heavy rain. Ichigo saw a girl near the river and thought that she was about to jump into it. Unable to tell the difference between ghosts and living people, Ichigo ran towards her to stop her, unaware that the girl was the lure of the Hollow Grand Fisher. Masaki tried to stop him, but he did not listen. After failing to grab hold of the girl, Ichigo lost consciousness for a time. When he awoke, Masaki was lying on top of him, covered in blood. Starting the day after Masaki's death, Ichigo repeatedly skipped school to go to the riverbank where Masaki died. Tatsuki found him there, where he would stay from morning until night, wandering along the bank as if searching for his mother; squatting down if he was tired and then wandering some more.
Ichigo later entered Mashiba Junior High School. During this time, Ichigo had finally defeated Tatsuki in a karate match and had not had another match with her since. Ichigo regularly got into fights with thugs, due to the unusual color of his hair. During one of these fights he received help from Yasutora Sado. Shortly after Ichigo returned the favor when he rescued Chad from two gang members roughing him up. When the thugs later abducted Chad, Ichigo found them and knocked down their leader, Yokochini. He used Yokochini's phone to ring for an ambulance for each of the five thugs, and then beat up all of them. After Chad was freed they made a pact to protect and fight for each other, they have remained good friends since.
A couple years later…One evening, Ichigo saw Rukia Kuchiki, a shinigami, enter his bedroom. He initially mistook her for a burglar, but when Ichigo realized that only he could see the intruder, he accepted that Rukia was a ghost. He refused to believe her explanation about Shinigami, causing Rukia to bind him with Kidō. Soon after, a Hollow attacked the Kurosaki Clinic and upon hearing his sister's pleas for help, Ichigo broke free and rushed to stop the Hollow. Ichigo, surprised at its monstrous appearance, charged at it with a baseball bat in a futile bid to release the captive Yuzu. Rukia freed Yuzu, but Ichigo's reckless actions forced Rukia to shield him with her body, causing her severe injuries. Seeing Ichigo's determination to protect his family, Rukia offered to temporarily turn him into a Shinigami by piercing his chest with her Zanpakutō and transferring half of her power to him. However, Ichigo ended up absorbing almost all of Rukia's power and made short work of the Hollow, collapsing afterwards.
A couple more years later…After many trials and hard times, Ichigo is still known as the “Shinigami Daiko of Karakura”.
ZanpakutōName: Zangetsu (Slaying Moon)
Zanpakutō spirit: The spirit of Zangetsu appears as a tall, lean-built, and middle-aged man. He has pale skin with a long face and pronounced cheekbones, unkempt facial hair, and long ragged black hair. He dresses in a tattered white undershirt with high collars, black pants, grey boots, narrow sunglasses, and a long flowing black overcoat with a red hue that flares out into ragged ends. Because of the spirit's appearance, Ichigo tends to call him "Old-man Zangetsu”.
In Bankai form, Tensa Zangetsu resembles a teenage version of himself closer to Ichigo's age and height with pale blue eyes. His clothes remain the same, minus the sunglasses and the addition of a black hood.
Sealed form: A standard-looking katana, but oversized with an equally-oversized brown sheath hung by a strap across Ichigo’s back and over his right shoulder. It has a rectangular bronze tsuba with gently inward-curved edges, a stylized flame pattern on the long sides, and a simple decorative slit on the short sides. The handle's hilt has a red-wrapping two light blue tassels attached to the pummel, which is decorated with a flame design on its short sides. However, since Zangetsu is a constant-release type zanpakuto, it never assumes this form.
ShikaiCall out phrase: N/A
Shikai description: The Shikai form of Zangetsu looks like an oversized elegant cleaver rather than a formal "katana". It has no tsuba and a silver hilt with gray-wrappings and a short length of chain at its base. The sword is about as tall as Ichigo is, and has a black blade with a silver edge. The blade itself curves inwards at the backside of the tip, similar to a trench knife. When stored away on Ichigo's back, white cloth will materialize to still act as an impromptu sheath.
Ability: N/A
Techniques:Getsuga Tenshō (translates to “Moon Fang Heaven-Piercer” in Japanese)- At the instant of the slash, Zangetsu absorbs Ichigo’s spiritual energy and releases highly condensed spiritual energy at the tip of the blade, magnifying the slash attack and then flies forward. This slash takes the form of a crescent moon or in the shape of a wave. The Getsuga Tenshō is a powerful technique with great force, capable of causing large-scale damage and destruction. Ichigo has used this technique in several different manners, such as striking the ground to create an omnidirectional blast to knock away incoming attacks or slashing at the ground to upturn it and crush everything in its path.
Bankai Bankai name: Tensa Zangetsu (translates to "Heaven Chain Slaying Moon" in Japanese)
Bankai description: To activate his Bankai, Ichigo first points his Zanpakutō in a straight direction using either a single hand or both of his hands. Then, his spiritual power surges, with the smoke obscuring his being. It is considered completely out of the ordinary for any Zanpakutō. Unlike most Bankai forms, which usually create some sort of massive creature or effect, Ichigo's Bankai actually shrinks his sword down to a daitō (Japanese long sword) with a black blade instead. The blade is roughly as long as Ichigo’s shikai, and more curved as it nears the tip, with three protrusions along the blunt end of the sword close to its tip. The cross guard has four prongs bent out to form the shape of the manji, and the tsuba is curved and jagged. The blade itself can endure even the strongest of attacks, making it quite effective in blocking and deflecting incoming attacks. It can even withstand getting crushed by force. A length of chain is attached to both the base of the sword's hilt and to Ichigo's glove, forming a wide loop. In addition to his sword, Ichigo's robe is replaced with a long-sleeved, ankle-length black coat (or shihakushō) with red lining that is left open, revealing a white shirt underneath. Held together by three "x"-shaped marks, it ends in a number of coattails. Ichigo wears black gloves with white "x"-shaped marks appear on both the gloves and his forearms. This coat is part of Ichigo's Bankai and the damage it can take is directly proportionate to the remaining strength and level of Ichigo's reiatsu.
- Spoiler:
Ability: By condensing all the power of his bankai into one, small form, Ichigo can perform hyper-speed combat. His new speed is so great, that it also enhances his Shunpo prowess and allows him to create dozens of after-images to confuse his opponent. As his speed is heightened, so is his strength, but not to as much of a great extent.
Furthermore, the fact that all of his energy is "compressed" means that usage of his Bankai doesn't expel as much spiritual power as other Bankai from the point of activation, thus allowing him to use Tensa Zangetsu at a much longer duration than any other Bankai users of his level.
Techniques:Tensa Zangetsu retains the use of Getsuga Tenshō and can be used in the same manners, but can be used in an enhanced form. When used in Bankai, these potent blasts are black with a red outline and their path can be controlled, with explosively augmented power and speed. Ichigo can also keep Getsuga Tenshō within Tensa Zangetsu to augment his sword swings or fire it from the tip of the blade as if it were a gun.
Inner HollowName of inner hollow: Ogihci Ikasoruk
Personality: Ogihci's most distinguishing features are his maniacal laughter and psychotic grins. He is brutal, arrogant, disrespectful, and sadistic. His only reason for existence is to take over Ichigo's power and body to use it to kill everything and anything he sees, as opposed to Ichigo's desire to protect. He taunts Ichigo as being a weak and unsuitable counterpart of himself, though he relishes the idea of taking Ichigo's powers for himself.
He battles like a berserker, unlike Ichigo, ignoring injuries and overpowering his enemies with brute strength and force. He also protects Ichigo's body when he is about to die, because if Ichigo died, he would too. He also seems to respect Zangetsu's spirit to a certain extent.
Ogihci has declared that Ichigo is the "king" of the inner world and he is the "horse." Ogihci wishes to "take the crown" from Ichigo so he can have control over the body and become the dominant personality. After his loss, he states he's willing to allow Ichigo to keep the crown for now, but once Ichigo "screws up again," he declared he'd make his move again.
Appearance: He appears to be virtually identical to Ichigo, except that his overall color scheme is the opposite of Ichigo's. He is a fairly tall and lean-built being with white skin and hair. His eyes consist of black pupils, white irises and black sclera. He also has black nails. While Ichigo wears a standard black Shinigami Shihakusho, his Hollow self wears a white Shihakusho with a black cloth belt.
- Spoiler:
Hollow mask: Ichigo's Hollow mask manifests in the appearance of what could best be described as a menacing skull. There are two thick vertical red stripes, each on one half of the mask, that are interrupted by the widened eye-holes and the jaw.
Role-play sample: - Spoiler:
There was nothing Ichigo could do to avoid it, being surrounded on all angles by raging flames. These flames formed a hollow, circular shape, trapping two combatants in the inferno. A shinigami and an arrancar; Ichigo Kurosaki and Sage Genesis. Strangely enough, Ichigo could barely even feel the heat of the flames. It was almost as if, the arrancar’s intent was not to kill Ichigo, but to hide his presence.
Even so, he was almost sure that Sage would attack once they were both surrounded by the orb of flames. Ichigo readied himself, mentally and physically. Though Sage's reiatsu was much stronger after he used his resurreccion, Ichigo knew that he could still take him on; it was clear that he did not lack confidence. He didn't bother trying to escape the orb; it had formed nearly instantaneously, Ichigo would only get caught in the blaze if he tried to get out now. He could only hope that the orb would disappear once he had defeated Sage. Still, Sage's words seemed out of place, given the situation. . . if he were here simply to kill Ichigo, then why would he be telling him about being attacked, or go on about his fraccion? It didn't make sense. . .
Suddenly, Sage disappeared from Ichigo's view. Damn it. . . Ichigo mentally cursed himself. In that one moment of distraction, Sage had taken the opportunity to get behind him. Expecting to hear, or even feel the slash of a blade now, Ichigo whipped around, about to viciously swing Zangetsu down on Sage if he got the chance. But once he turned around, something in Sage's expression stopped him. The Segunda Espada showed no signs of attacking, even though Sage could have easily inflicted a fatal wound on Ichigo if he had moved fast enough. With a mildly shocked and bewildered expression, Ichigo lowered his sword into a more stationary position -- so that he didn't look like he was about to hack Sage down -- upon hearing of his defection from the Espada and request to defend Karakura. Sure, it could easily be a trap intended to make Ichigo drop his guard, but he just knew that it wasn't. He knew because of the look on Sage's face. It was the look of desparation, resolve, and even fear, but not fear for himself; fear for someone whom he cared deeply for, and wished to protect. Ichigo could identify with this guy, even if they were enemies. There was a brief moment of silence, before Ichigo turned to face Sage, to where he had once again, switched locations.
Though he really didn't want to now, hitting Sage with his Getsuga Tenshou now was the only option; the sole way to ensure that he could go save his fraccion. Whatever he did, Ichigo would make sure not to kill Sage with this blow. The substantial bulk of Zangetsu's blade began to glow an iridescent white as Ichigo raised the blade to strike. After this, Ichigo would have to make sure that the other arrancar outside of the orb didn't investigate. He had not been paying much attention to Aiden. This proved to be a huge mistake on the substitute’s part.
"All right. I'll make sure that--" Ichigo was cut off, both in his words and his actions when the fire surrounding he and Sage suddenly dissipated, seemingly blown away by some unseen force. Not a moment later, Ichigo caught a glimpse of a figure right behind Sage; Aiden, before he was thrown up into the air, and both arrancar were gone. Seeing the two in the air, with the arrancar from earlier about to attack Sage again, Ichigo took a step forward, he was going to drive Aiden away before he got the chance to kill Sage. But just as he was about to flash step up to them, Aiden fired a dark wave-like attack downward. Ichigo was forced to jump back to avoid getting hit by the outermost edge of the wave, but even after he had avoided it and recovered his balance in the air, Ichigo remained frozen for a second. Getsuga. . .? It had to be a coincidence that Aiden's technique shared such a similar name to Ichigo's signature move. . .
Ichigo shook off these thoughts. They didn't matter. Right now he had to focus on helping Sage. He saw two figures fall down to the ground and raced over. Moments later, he stopped dead in his tracks. He was staring directly at Sage, well it was probably Sage; he couldn't tell at this point. Over in one direction, he could see what appeared to be someone's lower body, but there was nothing else attached to it. Then, over to his right, Ichigo spotted a headless torso, which was drenched in blood. . . the head was nowhere to be seen. Given the fact that Sage's reiatsu had all but disappeared, it was obvious that this was him, or what was left of the arrancar.
With a multitude of strong emotions bubbling just under the surface, Ichigo backed away from Sage's remains with a couple steps. Never, in any battle he had been in, every trial he had experienced, had he seen someone get killed in such a manner; it was like something out of a horror movie. With a surge of sudden anger, Ichigo whipped around, looking to where Aiden was now walking away with Sage's severed head still in his possession. His right hand, still with a firm grip on the hilt of Zangetsu, shook slightly, as he took a few steps after Aiden.
"You sick bastard! I'll make you pay for what you just did!" Ichigo roared, not hesitating another second as he charged after the retreating Primaera Espada. Of course, due to his position behind Aiden, Ichigo did not see the number on his chest, and therefore did not know of his rank. After what had just transpired, Ichigo didn't give a fuck what Aiden's rank was. He was going to make him pay, as he had just said.
