Personality: A calm and quiet person, Yasushi Heiwa is often regarded as the standard for how a typical captain should be. Impossible to provoke and highly respectful, he carries himself in a kind, yet serious manner, treating all of his subordinates how they deserve to be treated at the time. He has a general distaste for combat, and prefers to avoid it whenever possible, but isn't the type to hesitate to kill an opponent if it's completely necessary. Unlike many shinigami, he dislikes relying on his Zanpakuto whatsoever, and will avoid it unless it's absolutely necessary. This gives him an air of mystery about him, as not many people have actually seen even his shikai, let alone the bankai that all captains are supposed to possess. His intelligence has solidified his dominance as the third squad's captain, while his attitude has kept those beneath him satisfied with his position as a leader. As a shinigami that's crossed the boundaries between hollow and death god, he's always wary of using his masked abilities, and thus saves them for a resort even beyond his bankai. He has no important positive or negative feelings towards the hollowfication process itself, seeing it merely as something that's there, though he doesn't get along with his inner hollow whatsoever.

Bio: Life as a human before he died was average, for being in the dark ages. That's right, before dying, he was a knight employed under the king's rule in great Britain. His name as a knight was Charles Longden, and he served from as soon as he possibly could, until the day he died. Taking up being a paige at the age of five, and then eventually progressing faster than usual to squire, he was knighted at the age of twelve by the king himself. Eventually, throughout several tours of duty and such, he progressed even further. By the age of 16, he was a lord with several pieces of land and even vassals beneath him. His natural talent and resolve for knighthood made him quite successful. Though his calm and quite demeanor always left foes and allies alike slightly baffled. At the age of 19, he went on to get married to a beautiful woman, the girl of his dreams. This was his first and last act of naivety. For while he was madly in love with who he thought was her, she was simply an assassin raised from birth by enemies of Britain, attempting to destroy their entire military force. Her entire life, based around fooling one of the lords and eventually assassinating them. Needless to say she succeeded, poisoning him in one of her home cooked meals, though her shitty cooking could kill in and of itself either way. His death ultimately led to several lost battles and wars, resulting in the death and anguish of many people he cared deeply for, all because he let his guard down and opened himself up to personal matters, rather than remaining a duty only type of man.

His death at the age of 19 led him to entering soul society, where his skill in swordsmanship and his wit took him far. Not to mention his natural spiritual energy. Eventually, he was recruited by Genryusai Yamamoto himself, to form the initial stages of the Gotei 13. However due to his past life experiences, he constantly refused the opportunities to become even a seated officer, preferring to remain unseated and bide his time helping out in the lowest ways possible. Despite the pushing and encouragement of other captains and the commander himself, he had no desire to become a leader once more. He had no desire to fail his country, or now his organization, once more. However after several hundred years of him serving the Gotei 13 faithfully, captain spots became open due to treason, death, tragedy, and what have you, and the Gotei thirteen has been left in shambles without many leaders. Being that only Genryusai of the remaining captains knew of his possessing shikai or even Bankai, he was the only one to push for the relatively unknown guy to become squad three's captain after the Gotei 13 was left shorthanded. Eventually, he succumbed and accepted, taking the spot as 3rd squad captain and so far has been doing a well off job, for about the past 20 years or so.
