| It might have been odd to see the tail of a dragon-like being, rather than anything like a canine (or even a feline, perhaps) with its tail hanging over the thick branch it had rested upon and swaying contently from side to side in time, as like a pendulum.
No, before that, 'twould be rather odd to most to even see such a creature, much less one sitting so peacefully quiet and still with not a trace of malevolence or anything of the sort in its pure red eyes. The creature was a hollow, anyone with any knowledge of them could see that; after all, ordinary creatures or spirits simply didn't come shaped like him, and colored, save the black patterning from place to place, a bleached white, along with an odd mask on the top left quarter of its head. Its actual hollow was sufficiently hidden to those at ground level by the branch it rested itself upon, but the fact was no less obvious. But then, one might question it, or otherwise become quite suspicious, for laying there so peacefully when there was not one but two fresh souls not far away, simply playing in the little park. It was those two that its eyes rested upon the better part of the time, but they often wandered elsewhere even then. With all the people around, how could he simply take interest in those few when he was curious to see how they went about their days?
He was, technically, on the run and possibly in danger sitting around in one place for so long at a time, but that was well outside the range of his current interest. His interest at the moment, in fact, was seeing if anyone would find him, and how they'd react. They'd probably run or some such thing, he knew, but one could hope for something else, could they not?
Even then he couldn't help himself letting out a light yawn. How long had he been here, anyway? He'd well since lost track at this point. 'Just a little longer before I move on,' he promised himself as he proceeded with a little experiment. No better way to see how people would react than making himself more known. To that end, his leathery wings quickly unfurled and carried him, with a few heavy beats, down lightly to the ground below the tree that had been his resting place 'til now. Not a single noise from him came; rather, he went on in silence, letting the noise potentially erupt around him depending who might have been around. | |
